Neal & Carla Freed

Neal and Carla Freed opened their Bethesda studio in 1996, and Freed Photography has since grown to become Washington’s premier award-winning studio.

Carla received her BA in art & art history from Tulane University. She spent a year in Europe studying art history. Soon after, her creativity and artistic attention to detail segued into her being behind the camera and establishing her own individual style.

While Neal was in college in New York City, he fell into an assisting job with the Fred Marcus Studio in Manhattan. The Fred Marcus Studio was and still is the finest wedding and portrait studio in New York City. Neal had a unique opportunity to learn photography from the best and his goal on opening Freed Photography was to duplicate the same level of quality and service that he learned at Fred Marcus.

Neal and Carla have been married for 26 years and have two children. They are active in the DC business community, charitable foundations, and are members of Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, International Special Events Society, and the National Association of Catering Executives.
